The Introduction to Illegal Agricultural Input Markets distance learning course offers continuing professional training for police officers and public and private security agents who work in areas where illegal agricultural inputs are produced, circulated and marketed. The main objective is to ensure that students are better qualified to investigate, prosecute and control these illegal markets.
In this sense, this initiative aims to level and update students' knowledge by introducing basic aspects on the regulation and functioning of illicit activities that affect the agricultural input industry, especially methods of counterfeiting, smuggling, illegal marketing, theft and theft of inputs. In a complementary sense, we will study the crimes related to the fight against Illicit Agricultural Markets.
Finally, the Course also intends to positively impact the decision-making process of public agents responsible for monitoring and managing investigative and ostensible operations related to illegal agricultural inputs. These last two points will be developed through the program's evaluative activities, using the Problem Based Learning Methodology.
The course has a total of 15 hours of activities and will be available between the second week of July and the first week of August 2022. Students will be able to carry out the activities whenever they want within this period.
The Course is based on two learning methodologies:
i) The availability of asynchronous expository video classes recorded with researchers, police, promoters and representatives of companies affected by illegal activities in the field of agricultural inputs. The video classes may be accompanied by the Course Handout developed by the instructors;
ii) The use of the Methodology based on problem solving, with the presentation of practical cases that should be analyzed by the students for the execution of evaluative work.
