The course discusses the economic logic of illicit markets and the operation of criminal organizations on the American continent, and analyzes the main legal provisions available and good cooperation practices in the legal police area.
The course counted on the contribution of specialists and invited professors from eight countries in the Americas and Europe
Present the major challenges related to illicit markets on the American continent and indicate the main legal provisions and good operational practices related to the topics: the legal framework for border public security cooperation, good practices in operational procedures and techniques for the production of data and intelligence in public security.
The Course will take place over 15 weeks with 120 hours of total activities between August 14 and November 18, 2023, taking into account the viewing of video lessons for each module, the completion of readings from the Course Workbook, and the answers to the evaluative questionnaires for each class.
The methodology used in the course will be Problem-Based Learning associated with Microlearning. The first method seeks to connect theoretical concepts with practical issues. The objective is to bring knowledge closer to the day-to-day activities of police work, to foster a deeper understanding and to contribute to the professional performance of our students. Microlearning, in turn, is a modern teaching method designed for distance learning (DE). It aims to increase flexibility, dynamism, and the absorption of knowledge by students through the use of different, but complementary, pedagogical tools. At the end, it is expected that the student will have been able to understand complex phenomena and apply this knowledge in practical situations.
